Work Session Status Week Ending 06/18/2016

June 22, 2016

After last week's Engine House ceremony we had to return our site back to a restoration area. Area clean-up and equipment set-up was completed.

Wednesday, one of our projects was to separate the locomotive and tender by removing the safety draw-bar, thus leaving the tender in the engine house during our work sessions.

One of the air compressors was not working properly so it was removed from the engine and hung on the service rack and the top disassembled.

One of the driver brake head was in need of a new bushing for the pin. Repairs were made and a new bushing fabricated.

Many of the control rods to the steam turret had either been stolen at some time or cut. New rods are being fabricated for replacements.

More heavy driver brake shoes were installed.

Crews are still cleaning small bore control piping removing preservative and preparing them for paint.

Air brake piping and connections are being tested for leaks.

Components for the air brake stand are being mounted and piped linking the various filters and valves together as needed.

It's pretty hot out there, so everyone needs to keep hydrated and get in the cooled areas from time to time. Hope to see everyone at the site this week, and as always . . .

Keep on steamin',
