"Banging on a 2900"

Work Session Status Week Ending 03/05/2016

March 9, 2016

This week was much like last week, insulating pipes, fabricating and painting air brake component brackets, fabricating and installing lubrication and control lines.

The large 8" x 6" x 6" steam exhaust tee was reinstalled this week.

Clean-up of the continuous blow-down device revealed some rusted and wasted through areas. Metal pieces were cut and welded onto the affected areas.

Other workers turned their attention to the staybolt caps which were leaking during the last air test. Men were able to give each one a bit more turn to tighten. Other caps were replaced. One old original sleeve had a small split so it was cut off and a new one welded on.

The piping associated with the fireman's control quadrant was being cut, threaded and bent as needed. The originals were in poor condition and were cut off prior to the first cab removal.

Work also continued on the fuel and atomizer pipes locating them as needed.

Just a quick reminder, that if you have NOT paid your membership donations, the end of this month is when we'd like to receive them and if we haven't received it we will move your name to the "lapsed membership list". Please, we need your donations. Some people have moved and we don't know where you are as we don't have phone numbers and some people don't have emails. This will also appear on Facebook as well as our website. Please let us know if you have a new address or email address has changed. Thanks for your attention to these matters. We like to keep our spreadsheets up to date.

Weather is looking good for this week so I hope to see you at the site this week, and as always . . .

Keep on Steamin',
Rick Kirby, CMO
