GOVERNOR PUTS 2926 ON TRACK FOR
NEW MEXICO CENTENNIAL

On April 8th 2008, in a ceremony alongside 2926, Governor Bill Richardson launched the flagship of New Mexico’s centennial celebration in 2012.  He did so by accepting the NMSL&RHS proposal to create a centennial train---pulled by 2926, of course.
With Lt. Governor Diane Denish, Secretary of Cultural Affairs Stuart Ashman, and a number of 2926 fans looking on, Richardson signed an Executive Order creating a New Mexico Centennial Task force.
To the cheers of NMSL&RHS and WHEELS museum supporters, the Governor assigned the newly created task force its first job.  He charged the Centennial Task Force with incorporating the centennial train concept into New Mexico’s centennial celebration.
Look for more details on our web site in the next few days.

The Governor's office has an article online.
