  1. The meeting was called to order at the work site by President Mike Hartshorne at 0900.
  2. The minutes from the previous meeting were posted on the web site and were approved as posted.
  3. The treasurer’s report (copy appended) was read and approved.

  6. Information items
    1. Combined Federal Campaign—we were accepted by CFC again this year.
    2. National Historical Site registration—Bob Scott is still working to get the 2926 on the National Register of Historic Places.  This is required for to apply for some grant money.  Mike noted that the assessed value of our volunteer labor plus donated funds expended on the project can be counted toward grants requiring matching funds.
    3. Audits—our required audits have been completed, although we have not received the final copy.  The total audited sum is about $500,000 and the total number of man-hours accrued is about 30,000.  This audit information will be used for our reports to the State Attorney-General and the IRS to maintain our 501(3)(c) status.
    4. We have submitted our required annual report to the City Landmarks Commission.
    5. We have a new member (Jim “Doc” Emerson) from Wellington, KS who is a retired BNSF engineer and who may relocate to Albuquerque.
    6. Bob Scott has offered to donate his collection of ninety-two railroad lanterns to the Society.
    7. Frank Gerstle noted that Connie Menninger (curator of the Kansas State Museum) had recently passed away.
    8. Mike reminded the members present of the upcoming election.  Three Board slots are up for election—Robart, Taylor, and Hartshorne.  Doyle Caton reported that all three have received the required two endorsements to stand for reelection.  In addition, we have received the required two endorsements for Ken Dusenberry as a candidate for a Board position.  Elections will be held in June.
    9. There were hearty congratulations offered in absentia to Travis Atwell and Amanda Burt on their pending nuptials (held at 11 AM on the morning of the meeting!).
  7. New Business
    1. Dave Traudt reminded the membership that we had agreed to have a mini-open house on 5/31 for attendees at the Model Railroading convention.  We are expecting about forty-nine visitors and will provide refreshments (hot dogs and soda) and tours.  In addition, Dave has agreed to give the conventioneers a clinic on our restoration project.

Respectfully submitted,  John Taylor (acting secretary)
