TW3 (That Was The Week That Was),

Hello All,

We had a good weather week conducive for outdoor work.

Progress on removing the interior firebox staybolt heads is continuing with Nate, Dr. Mike and Gail doing the work. Cylinder exhaust piping and preheat water piping has been removed for cleaning and inspection and it also gave us access to the piping behind. Scott, Dave T. and Gary W. removed them while Ken and Bob were at the controls of the forklift. Pete A. began surface cleaning, exposing metal wasting and even a pin hole. He also needle scaled more water and steam lines.

Pete O. reinstalled our repaired mill deck motor which was reassembled 180° from correct by the repair company, which also replaced the connecting wires using only one color of wire and no identifying marks. Services of our resident electrician, Johnny P. will be required to sort things out. Rev. Ed was drilling holes fabricating some pressure test plates we will need. Dave T. also worked on a project to drill holes in a thick piece of plate that I intend to make a tool for testing welders. All went well until the large drill bit bent (Harbor Freight). Ralph said he could bore them on the mill.

Randy Mac is still procuring needed items and is working on casters for the eventual tractor move. I gave Warren some cutting torch lessons and he has been practicing the techniques. Ken is still finishing up remaining loose ends on the tender. Also he and I completed a material list for a ridged fuel fill system. John T., Dr. Mike and Chuck worked on honing the compressor cylinders with only about an hour left to do. Doyle C. and Marlin worked in the office and Ernie "money bags" issued checks.

Wednesday has an unstable forecast, so we'll need to check with Mother Nature on that days work. It appears The Weather Channel has it at about 30% chance so we'll just have to see how it goes.

Keep on Steamin', Rick Kirby, CMO
